Here's Why You Don't Need To Be A Follower Of Fashion

You don't have to conform to what others wear to be socially acceptable. You don't need to follow every fashion icon from the catwalk and dress yourself accordingly. In fact, you don't need to be a follower of fashion at all.

Here are just some of the reasons why.

You will bankrupt yourself
Okay, so we might be exaggerating a little here, but think about it. Fashion trends change all the time, and if you're constantly transforming your look with the latest style, then you are going to see a dent in your bank balance. Save yourself some money then, and if you want to wear last year's clothes (or the outfits of a decade ago), do so, especially if you're still happy to wear them.

You have your own identity
The clothes you wear should reflect your personality, your character, and your personal tastes. So, if you want to wear a shirt emblazoned with a logo that is personal to you, or if you want to wear something in a color that captures the very essence of you, then do so. This is better than copying what everybody else is wearing, especially if the latest trends go against your taste and unique sense of style.

What goes around comes around
Not only do fashion trends change, but they also make comebacks. So, don't throw away your ripped denim jeans or sweatpants just yet, and don't discard anything else that others might consider 'last season' clothing, as in a few year's time, they might just come back into fashion. Keep hold of the items you love then, and if they do come back into fashion, you won't have to spend a dime restocking your wardrobe!

You can start your own fashion trend
By doing your 'own thing' instead of the 'in thing,' you might encourage others to follow what you are wearing. After all, if you know how to dress yourself well, and if you have imagination to spare when mixing and matching your own outfits, then you might become an inspiration to many. But even if others don't copy you, that's okay. If you think you look good in the clothes you are wearing, and if you feel comfortable and confident in them, then that is all that matters!

Not everything will suit your body
It's better to wear the outfits that flatter your body, and not the 'in vogue' styles that do little to make you look good, so consider that when you're shopping for clothes. Of course, you can pay to have some fashion items tailor-made to suit you, but only do so if you are desperate to wear whatever's in trend. If your tastes lie elsewhere, wear those clothes that you know will make you look good when you're wandering through town.

So, listen. Be a follower of fashion if you want to be. We don't want to deter you from wearing the latest trends if that is what you want to do. But remember that you don't have to, even if your friends are all slavishly sticking to the latest styles, for all of the reasons that we have listed here.
