Using Google+ to integrate my comments was great because it let me connect with the circles and friends I have on Google, through my blog. Unfortunately, doing that meant that I wasn't able to hear feedback and comments from any of my GFC and blogger followers!
For example, when I saw my posts, this is what they looked like:
After a little confusion, and a lot of searching, I've learned that is is not mandatory to switch your comment base to google+ (yet.. like everything else that seems to be changing with blogger, who knows how much longer this will stay the same!).
I also learned that you were clicking on my blog, and following along, but you weren't able to start a conversation with me because I made another big mistake! I was a no-reply blogger! At first, I didn't know what that even meant.. A no-reply blogger? I reply to comments all of the time. I'm fine. Right? Wrong. Being a no-reply blogger meant that when you replied to any comments I had left on your pages, I wasn't being emailed any of your comments. Which, for me, was kind of a bummer, because I wanted to connect. I just didn't know how to do it.
Not everyone wants to link up their email and receive all of the comments they're missing in their inbox. And that's okay! But once I learned what I was missing, and why I wasn't hearing from you, I had to make a few changes.
First, I switched my profile back to a blogger profile, and left the google+ profile on google. You can still add me to your circles by clicking the google link over there on the sidebar, buuut now when you click my name, you will be taken to my blogger profile, which is where I added my email to my account. This way, I'm no longer a no-reply blogger. In fact, I'm a reply blogger. ;) That's right. Now able to receive and reply to all of your comments, directly from the convenience of my inbox.
The last big switch I made was to use blogger as the base for all of my comments, once again. I liked hearing from you. And now, I can do that without all of the google+ confusion.
If you think you might be a no-reply blogger, and want to fix it so you're in on all of the happening conversation, Jenny and Robin both offer great step-by-step tutorials on how to fix the problem!
As for me, I'm officially ready for conversation. Are you?
