how i do: tousled beach waves

There's very few things that can beat a day at the beach. The Thrasher's Boardwalk fries, the smell of sun screen, that ocean sound, and that fresh-out-of-the-ocean-hair (ahhh, the hair!). I have been major craving a little bit of summer sun, lately.

So, what's a girl to do when the weather channel is boasting about a possible visit from Mr. Jack Frost, with enough snow to make Frosty and all of his buddies? Improvise, of course, and break out the beachy waves. It may not be quite as gratifying as munching on vinegar drenched french fries on the sand, but it might just hold me over until I can get the real thing. (PS: Am I the only one wondering what happened to Spring? Helloooo?)

So, without further adieu, how to get those wavy fresh-from-the-shore locks, even when there's 10 feet of snow on the ground:

ONE. Fresh out of the shower, towel dry wet hair. (Cheesing while doing so, is optional, of course, but always fun.)

TWO. Smooth a dollop of anti-frizz serum into your locks. I've recently been using L'OReal Frizz Taming Serum, and love it!

THREE. Grab a curl defining cream and scrunch into hair. I've recently made the switch from a Garnier spray, to this Not Your Mother's Curl Defining Hair Cream. I'm in love! It helps to really form and hold those waves, and it smells fabulous, like the best grapes you'll ever mush into your hair. I use a squirt about the size of a quarter, and scrunch it in starting at the bottom. And then, use more as necessary (Depending on how thick your hair is, you may want to start with more).

FOUR. Blow dry hair, using a diffuser. It'll help to keep those curls you've just scrunched in, nice and curly. Blow drying upside-down, or from underneath the sides of the hair, really adds some fluff, to those waves (and there's my friend Pepper, waiting patiently for her turn for a makeover ;).

FIVE. Fluff those locks out!

SIX. Last, but not least, use your hair spray of choice to lock in that look! I use Curl Booster Spray by Catwalk. It smells wonderful and even works to create more waves if you scrunch it in while you spray.

SEVEN. (Not pictured) Enjoy feeling like you've just spent your day jumping in the waves, and avoid looking out all windows, that may show that 10 feet of snow we talked about.

Have a Sweet day!
