this one time...at baby gap...

Sweater (Tommy Hilfiger, Thrifted, $3), Scarf (Kohl's, Apt. 9, Gift), Turtle Neck (Kohl's, $6),
Boots (Kohl's, $12), Leg Warmers (GapKids, $5.59), Fitting Room Pictures Via Cell Phone (Priceless)

Okay. Confession time. I have this guilty pleasure: Sometimes, just sometimes, I shop in the kids' department...for myself. I love to shop in every section of stores - even the unconventional ones. From the young boys' section, to juniors, to the misses department, it's always a fun challenge to see what I can find to work into my closet. The kids' stores are my favorite though: not only are most of the clothes stylish, but they  have a more modest fit, and it's not typical that I'll run into someone I know with the same outfit on! (Unless you count the kiddos I teach...there has been an awkward outfit moment there once or twice...)

For instance, today: Today I walked proudly into Baby Gap and marched over to the big girl section (after admiring all of the adorable baby clothes on the way, of course). Then, after I found more than an arm full of fluffy sweaters and cute ponchos, I may have snuck over to the little boys department to look at some cute flannels before shamelessly asking for a fitting-room. Sure, I was on the receiving end of more than a few up and down glances from associates and shopping mamas, but hey: good deals come at a price! And at an additional 30% off for clearance merchandise, I was so ready to pay that price. And I wasn't about to be scared away by a few sideways glances.

I patched up my self-esteem with a few fitting-room mirror shots (with my iphone.. cliche, I know!) and made my purchases at some amazing sale prices! Then, with my head held high, I headed over to Auntie Anne's to order a delicious pretzel with jalapenos, to add a little spice to my day.

Mission Successful, if I don't say so myself.

What is your guilty pleasure?
