HAPPY {belated} NEW YEAR!

It was a quiet weekend over here. While I had full intentions of partaking in a rousing evening of babysitting on New Year's Eve (yeah, I know. I'm a party animal!), a turn of events ended me up here at home with girly movies, late night giggles, and sparkling cider on a blow up mattress (pretty much classic sister time). And, I must say, it was pretty fabulous.

This New Year's Eve was different. For the first time in a long time, I wasn't babysitting. I wasn't exchanging cyber kisses at midnight. And I wasn't filled with countless ideas for New Year Resolutions. In fact, I'm still a little behind the ball, with thinking up worthy resolutions for 2013! I mean, since I was oh so successful with my 13 by 2013 last year (*ahem* yeah...it's not that I didn't try. I just wasn't very successful.), I should be jumping to make all sorts of new goals for this year....right?

I think that part of the reason I'm having trouble coming up with resolutions and plans, is that plans are so unreliable! (Like how I'm blaming the plans, here? ;) It's totally not me!). But if 2012 has taught me anything, it is how wonderfully unpredictable life can be. And as lovely and achievable as goals and plans sound, God has shown me that He has plans that are much BIGGER and better than I can ever dream up on my own.

So, this year I'm sticking to one resolution, and one resolution only: This year I'm resolving to not resolve! That's right. In 2013, I'm going to be resolution free! It's like a new diet. Only better - and much easier to be successful at. :)

If there is one thing I'd like to do focus on this year, though, it would be finishing what I start. But for example, those monthly instagram photo challenges? I'm awful at those. I know I talked about it before, but I just cannot seem to complete them to save my life. I go strong and steady for about a week... if I'm lucky! It'd be nice to finish one. It's not a resolution, though! Just a thought. I mean, I have twelve opportunities to succeed this year! And hey, if victory is not in the cards this year, there's always another twelve months after those!

I hope everyone had a great kick off to a hopefully great {new!} year!!
What are your resolutions?

  1. Tilly's. My most favorite store ever. I was hoping you got that shirt somewhere where I could go get it. I WANT. My resolution is to be a better wife & friend. Love your outfit!

    1. Thank you! I like your resolution!

I'm addicted to shopping at Tilly's too. Especially online.
Here's a link to the tee shirt!

  2. I am keeping it pretty simple too this year. I'm already running so I'm just trying to up my milage and do a half-marathon in April. lol Oh you look CUTE!

    1. Thanks Daliene!

Ahh. That's an awesome goal. Have you done/heard of the 5k color run? If I had what it took to run (at all), that would be the goal for me. (:
      Good luck!!

  3. Oh Alynne I can't take my eyes off your Wellingtons you look really good wearing them.

  4. It can be nice to not get yourself all worked up with all the specifics of how your going to make it all happen this year...Sometimes more will come by letting go and letting God!

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Your bun with the little bow is super adorable! :)

  6. I completely agree on plans being unreliable. In fact, one of my resolutions so to speak for 2013 is to "let go" of my plans and abide in the truth that God's plans for me are much better than my own.

Found your blog through Shannon and Imperfectly Perfect! Love it!

    Come see me over at

  7. ohhh girl, loooove your resolution for the year!
    amen to that!

resolutions are so dang hard to keep, and then when I end up failing the resolution (which is pretty much every time) I feel even worse.

(by the way, your outfit in the pictures are aaaadorable!)

  8. Totally agree with you girl, life really is so unreliable and unpredictable! Thnings can change in an instant. Maybe my resolution should be to better adapt when those changes are thrown my way!

  9. Thanks for the sweet comment on our blog! :) Love your resolution idea for this year! ;) Happy 2013!

  10. I've come to the same conclusion - no resolutions! Sure, I have goals for myself, but they're ongoing and may not necessarily be accomplished in one year.

  11. Hey, new follower from the GFC Blog Hop. Cute pictures! Looking forward to following along. :)

  12. You look adorable, and that sounds like a pretty great nye to me. I don't even attempt nye resolutions anymore I know myself too well, none of them would ever happen ;)

  13. I like that you decided not to make any resolutions this year. God's plans always seem to be different then our own :)

  14. First off, I simply ADORE your outfit! Love, love, love it! And I'm contemplating buying the anchor shirt, since I love anchors so much!

Second, I think it's great that you're resolving to be resolution free. I think there's both a time to make resolutions and a time to take a break to really think what God has in store for you. And I loved what you said about plans being unpredictable--so true!

Hope you're having a wonderful start to 2013!

  15. just came across your blog and I am now a new follower :) I absolutely adore your style, the outfit in this post is to die for!! Your blog is too cute and I can't wait to read more posts from you!!!

  18. Agghh! You're just so adorable. As far as resolutions go, I always try to make them up every year, but I should probably just go your route and let things happen. Definitely want to finish things I start, just like you said! Happy New Year! :)
