Days around here have been rainy and grey, lately. And with the promise of even more drizzly weather this weekend, I felt determined to take advantage of the fifteen chilly minutes of sunshine I had and savor every last' ray.
The second half of this year has seemed like one endless rainy day.
But thinking about the opportunity for the new year ahead, I am filled with gratitude and hope.
I am grateful for the moments that have shaped me, throughout the months, whether they were planned or unexpected. And while there were many moments this year that seemed dark and melancholy, God made His face and will clear, each and every time. And for that, among so many other things, I am grateful. And I am full of hope for this year; that even through the seasons of rain that may will come, there is hope for the sunshine that will follow, and peace in the promise that God has bigger plans for us than we could ever dream for ourselves.
Life gives us all sorts of grey days, for one reason or another. Whether it be endless rain or persistent trial. Either way, the storm clouds that do roll into our days allow us the chance to embrace the weather we have been given, and teach us to appreciate the sun when it shines.
Here is to the hope and promise of a new year - whatever it may bring.
